Wednesday night I had the opportunity to go to the retirement party of my future father in-law. He and two of his colleagues were retiring after 40+ years of service in the same business. That itself is quite of an accomplishment seeing how people are constantly changing jobs whenever the opportunity arises. These three men were fresh out of college when they started their careers. They have seen their company go through the good times as well as the bad but they stuck with it till they felt it was time to hang up the shoes.
Each man is a success in my eyes. Each man had a successful career and got the opportunity to make a decent living that they were able to raise a family and see that family grow to have families of their own. What I learned the most out of that night was that you have to have a passion for what you and that the people you work with are not just coworkers but they are family.
Value what you do for a living. Value the people that you work with.
I can't even imagine working a one place for 40+ years. I just completed my 4th year at my job, I still have things to learn in my field. I know that. I am willing and eager to learn all I can.
I've tried to write blogs before and a lot of times I would just stop updating. I think this blog will stay the course because it will be more of a day to day track of my life. It will include things that happen with work, photos from the road and even planning for my wedding in June.
If you read this...fine.
If you follow this...cool.
If you comment....go ahead.
This is my life.
